LASHKARGAH (PAN): An Afghan official working for a foreign non-governmental organisation (NGO) was arrested on bribery charges in southern Helmand province on Wednesday, an official said.
Mohammad Rassoul, working for Afghanistan and Development (ARD), allegedly received $25,000 (1,230,000 afs) in bribe from a contractor in return for accepting low-quality seeds.
Provincial National Directorate of Security (NDS) chief, Gen. Nazar Ali Wahidi, said Rassoul was currently being interrogated.
Speaking to reporters at the NDS office in Lashkargah, the provincial capital, Rassoul confessed to taking the bribe from the contractor.
