CHARIKAR): Separate armed clashes between rival families in central Parwan and northwestern Badghis provinces have left six people dead and nearly a dozen others wounded, officials said on Saturday.

Five people were killed and seven wounded on Friday evening when families of Mohammad Amir and Dadullah entered traded fire in the Saqawi village of Siah Gird district in Parwan, the town’s administrative head said.

Mohammad Saeed Siddique told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash erupted after Mohammad Amir’s son was killed by Dadullah’s family.

Relatives of the victim stormed Dadullah’s house in revenge. Four of Amir’s family members were killed and seven others wounded, he added.

A delegation had been sent to the area to investigate the incident, said the provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Akram Begzad.

Separately, one man was killed and four others were wounded in a clash over a land dispute in the Jawand district of Badghis. The clash in Padin area occurred between the families of Mullah Aziz and Mullah Dost Mohammad, said Suraya Mohammadi, a provincial council member.

A man from Aziz’s family was killed while four others from Dost’s side were injured in the fire exchange, she said. Police have launched an investigation.

“The two families had a longstanding dispute over property,” resident Yar Mohammad said.
