MAIMANA (PAN militants eliminated a local policeman’s family in the northern province of Faryab, official said on Saturday.

On Friday night, militants entered Mohammad Saleem Mirab’s house in the Dong Qala village of Almar district, killing him, his wife, 25-year old son, daughter-in-law and a daughter, said district chief Mohammad Saleh Saleh.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News that Mirab’s son was a local policeman and Taliban had several times warned his son to quit his police job.

His other son, the policeman, was not in the house when Mullah Habib’s fighters attacked Mirab’s family, he added.

A tribal elder, Noor Mohammad Sayedi, said the Taliban beheaded the members of the family after shooting them dead.

Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen shot dead a spiritual leader, Maulvi Faiz Mohammad, in the Yatim Qeshlaq area of the district, Saleh said.

Police have launched an investigation into the murder.
