Meanwhile, the Australian defence ministry announced that one of its soldiers was killed on Monday in a militant attack in the Chura district of Uruzgan province.
Australia has 1,500 soldiers in Afghanistan, mostly stationed in Uruzgan. Since the war on terrorism began in Afghanistan a decade ago, 33 Australian soldiers had been killed.
So far in 2012, 224 multinational soldiers had been killed in different security incidents across the country.
Last year, 566 NATO soldiers were killed in Afghanistan.
