KABUL): The Pakistani government has banned a news website known for releasing critical reports, analyses and articles against the ruling coalition.
The website has been closed for the past one week, the Khabarial service said, without mentioning the articles that triggered the restriction.
Local officials were contacted several times to allow the website to operate, but the requests were rejected, a statement on the site said.
While asserting its impartiality, the online news service said it had no link with any political party or figure and worked in line with international media laws.
It urged all Afghan media outlets, civil society organisations and journalists support organisations to help lift the ban. It also hoped Afghan officials would talk to their Pakistani counterparts to resolve the issue.
