MAHMOOD RAQI (PAN): Insurgents have shot dead a district police crime branch chief in central Kapisa province, an official said on Thursday.
Abdul Alim Haidari was leading a raid to capture a local rebel leader, Mullah Nadir, in Dalikhel village, the district’s administrative chief, Abdul Wadood Haidari, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Haidari was killed and two policemen were wounded when Nadir opened fire on them from his home. A search has been mounted for Nadir, the district chief added.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said the crime branch official was killed along with a policeman in a guerrilla attack.
