LASHKARGAH (PAN): Two policemen including a commander and a civilian have been killed in different security incidents in southern Helmand province, officials said on Monday.
A third wounded when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in the Amir Boland area of Marja district on Monday, said the governor’s spokesman Mohammad Omar Zwak.
A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, claimed responsibility for the bomb attack, saying six policemen were killed and five others wounded.
The police commander, Mohammad Wali, was famous in the area for chasing insurgents, local resident Niaz Mohammad told Pajhwok Afghan News.
In another incident, one civilian was killed and another wounded on Sunday night when a bomb exploded inside a mosque in the Chehel Metri area of Lashkargah, said the provincial intelligence chief, Col. Abdul Karim.
