3 detained with 746kg of drugs in Nimroz

ZARANJ (PAN): Police detained three drug smugglers after a brief clash and seized 746 kilograms of narcotics in southwestern Nimroz province, an official claimed on Tuesday.

The three were arrested by border police in the Bati area of Chakhansor district on Monday night, the provincial police chief said.

Brig. Gen. Mohammad Qasim Jangal told Pajhwok Afghan News the drugs were being smuggled to neighbouring Iran but police thwarted the attempt.

The incident comes 10 days after police confiscated a car and arrested its driver for trying to smuggle 21kg of opium to Iran from Nimroz.
