KABUL): Two rebel commanders and as many would-be suicide attackers were killed during a drone attack in the Baraki Barak district of central Logar province on Saturday, an official said.

The pilotless aircraft struck a car carrying the suspected militants in the Sheikhan village of the district at around 10:00am, the administrative head of Baraki Barak, Mohammad Rahin Amin, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the rebels were trying to storm the district headquarters. The dead commanders were identified as Mullah Shamsur Rahman and Zalmai.

He accused Rahman and Zalmai of organising attacks against Afghan and foreign troops in Baraki Barak and parts of neighbouring Maidan Wardak province.
