KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Monday said it was ready to assist the election commission in paving the ground for overseas Afghans casting their vote in the April elections.
Shakaib Mostaghni, a newly-appointed spokesman for the ministry, told a press conference his ministry would continue contributing to efforts aimed at holding inclusive and fair polls.
“The foreign ministry is fully prepared to provide all possible facilities to the election commission to enable Afghan refugees to participate in the electoral process.”
The Independent Election Commission (IEC) has cited inadequate funds to facilitate Afghans living abroad in casting their votes in the upcoming elections.
Nearly six million Afghans live as refugees in 73 countries, with Pakistan and Iran hosting most of them.
