The victims were travelling in Shahban area of Musa Qala district on Thursday when their vehicle drove over and set off the landmine, killing all inside on the spot, the district chief, Mohammad Sharif Khan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the dead included two women, as many children, an elderly man and his son. The bodies had been shifted to the district hospital.
Khan accused the Taliban of planting roadside bombs in the area. But there has been no word about the incident from the rebel group.
