GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Two policemen were killed in a bomb explosion and three militants eliminated in a clash with the army in southern Ghazni province, an official said.
The roadside bomb hit a patrol vehicle in Giru district this morning. The governor’s spokesman said, adding two policemen were killed and a third wounded in the blast.
Shafiq Nang told Pajhwok Afghan News police were conducting patrols across the province to create an enabling environment for Saturday’s presidential and provincial elections.
Elsewhere in Ghazni, three insurgents were killed during an overnight Afghan National Army (ANA) operation in Gilan district, the 203rd Military Corps spokesman said.
Latifullah Sultani added the fighters killed in Shinkai area included two Pakistani citizens. He gave no further details.
