LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Six civilians have been killed and four others wounded in separate explosions in the southern Helmand and Kandahar provinces, officials said Saturday.
Six civilians including two women and a child were killed in a roadside bombing in Sarwan Kala area of Sangin district in Helmand province late on Friday, governor’s spokesman, Omar Zwak told Pajhwok Afghan News.
All the victims were members of a family displaced due to fighting between Taliban and Afghan security forces in the area. They were turning back to their homes when the roadside hit them, he added.
Taliban did not comment on the incident, but the group’s spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi claimed inflecting casualties upon scores of Afghan security forces during separate incidents in Helmand. But local officials have denied Taliban’s claim.
Meanwhile, four children were injured in a bomb explosion in Khakriz district of Kandahar province.
According to a statement released by the provincial administration, the incident took place in Shah Agha area of Khakriz district today morning.
It said remotely controlled explosives placed in a motorcycle were detonated while the children were passing the area.
