KABUL border on Friday.

The outlawed Lashkar-i-Islam group militants were killed when the vehicle they were travelling in struck improvised explosive device (IED) in the Sipah area of Bara sub-district.

Dawn quoted local security officials as saying the vehicle belonged to a Lashkar-i-Islam commander, Shams, who was not on board at the time of the explosion.

Taliban and Al Qaeda militants, who stage attacks in Pakistan and Afghanistan, are known to have strongholds in the restive region. Military warplanes recently struck insurgent hideouts in Khyber, killing scores of suspected militants.
