ISAF commander greets Ahmadzai, Abdullah

KABUL (Pajhwok): International Security Assistance Force Commander John F. Campbell on Monday congratulated president-elect Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai and chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.

He also greeted the people of Afghanistan on reaching the important milestone, the first peace transfer of political power in Afghanistan’s history.

“I would like to also congratulate the Afghan National Security Forces. Their achievements, through two elections and protracted political uncertainty, are enormous,” he said.

In a statement, Gen Campbell said ANSF actions demonstrated their dedication to a secure, stable and unified Afghanistan. “Without their efforts and sacrifice, the opportunity to conduct a peaceful political transition would not have been possible.”
