JALALABAD/KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Prisoners in eastern Nangarhar and southeastern Khost provinces have embarked on hunger strike, demanding amnesty under the new regime.
Deputy security chief for the central jail in Khost City, Col. Faiz Mohammad, told Pajhwok Afghan News that about 40 of the protesting prisoners had stitched up their lips.
He said the inmates wanted the new government either to order a general amnesty for prisoners across Afghanistan or investigate their cases without any delay.
