MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Four insurgents, including a commander, were killed in a clash with security personnel in western Faryab province on Monday, an official said.
Police spokesman Syed Massoud Yaqubi at least eight fighters were injured in the firefight, which was sparked by a militant attack on a police checkpoint Khwaja Sabz Posh district.
The dead militant leader was identified as Mullah Ghulam Sakhi. Two more rebel commanders Qari Daud and Mullah Khairullah are among the injured.
Naqibullah, a resident of the area, said dozens of Taliban from neighbouring districts took part in the fight that lasted several hours.
