Landikotal explosions leave 5 dead

KABUL.

Two security personnel and two members of a local peace committee — Tauheedul Islam — were killed in the first blast in the Zakakhel Bazaar of Landi Kotal. At least two others were injured.

A report on Dawn’s website said a joint patrol of security forces and peace committee members came under attack in Painda Cheena area.

As rescue and security personnel reached the blast site and began evacuating the victims to hospital, a second landmine went off, killing one paramilitary staffer and injuring three others.
