PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): A bomb-rigged motorcycle exploded in a bazaar in northern Baghlan province on Monday afternoon, injuring two civilians and six policemen, including a senior officer.

Mehmood Haqmal, the governor’s spokesman, said the blast took place in the main bazaar of Dahna Ghori district. The explosives had been planted on a motorcycle that went off as the district deputy police chief came out of his office.

The blast left six policemen and two civilians injured, who had been evacuated to the civil hospital in Pul-i-Khumri, said Haqmal.

Dr. Shah Wali Hofya, the hospital spokesman, confirmed the deputy police chief and his five bodyguards had been brought to the hospital. However, he did not comment on the extent of their injuries.
