FIROZKOH (Pajhwok): The residents of three districts in western Farah province on Saturday complained weak signals of wireless mobile network services was a serious matter of concern for them.

The residents were facing with immense trouble to travel to other areas where mobile networks had signals to talk to their near ones living abroad.

Etisalat, Roshan, Afghan Wireless Communication Company (AWCC), Multinational Telecommunication Network (MTN) and Salam had 40 antennas in six districts and provincial capital where 30 percent of people have been benefiting from the services.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Haidar Habibi, director of Communication and Information Technology (CIT) department, said presence of anti-state elements and lack of cooperation from the residents were main factors that telecom services could not be received in Tolak, Chaharsada, and Pasaband districts.

He added some antennas of Etisalat had established in Chaharsad districts but militants damaged the generators, suspending the signals from properly functioning.

The official said police were unable to protect antennas of mobile companies. He pledged if security of workers was guaranteed then mobile companies were ready to upgrade their services.

But Abdul Basir Qadari, the provincial council member and resident of Tolak districts, rejected the issue of insecurity halting the establishment of mobile services in the district.

He, however, said telecommunication companies were not ready to enhance their services in the three districts.

He said the resident of the locality would adopt all measures to protect the companies’ antennas and security of its staff.
