KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The Resolute Support mission commander on Tuesday apologised for last year’s deadly airstrike on a medical facility in Kunduz City.
The US air raid on the Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Hospital left 42 people dead and many others wounded, sparking an outpouring of criticism.
Accompanied by Defense Minister Masoom Stanekzai, Gen. John Nicholson met local leaders and relatives of victims of the Oct. 2015 attack in the provincial capital.
Nicholson called the raid, which has already resulted in disciplining more than a dozen US military personnel,a horrible tragedy.
The Taliban insurgents were reportedly using the hospital as a base for attackson Afghan forces, a claim that is yet to be substantiated.
