Dostum assures Ghani of cooperation on security issue

KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Thursday won a strong assurance of cooperation on different issues from his Vice-President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum

Dostum held out the cooperation promise during a meeting with Ghani at the Presidential Palace in Kabul in the evening. The security situation in the country came up for discussion.

The Uzbek warlord briefed the president on the overall security environment and growing public support to the security forces, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.

He vowed to continue working for further strengthening the security organs, the statement said, adding Ghani welcomed the pledge from his deputy.  

The meeting came days after the VP lashed out at the president for what he called power concentration. Dostum complained he had no authority and his signature was given little credence.
