Many Sayyad villages cleared of militants

KABUL insurgents have been suffered casualties as many villages were cleared during an operation in Sayyad district of northern Sar-I-Pul province, an official said Wednesday.

Three days earlier, the Taliban militants captured 13 villages of Sayyad district from Afghan forces.

Provincial police chief, Col. Abdul Qayum Baqizoy, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 10 villages in Sayaad district were cleared from militants during an operation currently ongoing in Shah Toot and other regions of the district.

He said five militants were killed and 10 others wounded during the operation.

However, a local resident who wished not to be named said that Afghan forces recaptured nine villages in Sayyad district from Taliban.

The source added that three militants were killed and two members of an uprising group in the wounded in the offensives.

Taliban did not comment on the incidents so far.
