JALALABAD (Pajhwok): One civilian was killed and five others, including women and children, were wounded when a mortar shell fired by rebels landed on a house in the Ghanikhelo district of eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday, a reliable source said.
The mortar shell struck a civilian house in 27the canal area at around 2:00pm when a clash between security forces and rebels was underway.
Meanwhile Governor Spokesman Attaullah Khogyani said Special Forces conducted an operation in 27th canal area. He acknowledged a clash had taken place during the operation.
Khogyani confirmed civilian suffered casualties during the clash and the injured had been evacuated to Jalalabad for treatment.
The Taliban have not yet commented about the incident.
