KABUL have fallen to a 154-rundefeat at the hands of Zimbabwe in the second One Day International at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Brendan Taylor’s spectacular century and Cremer’s aggressive bowling spell guided Zimbabwe to the convincing triumph that left the five-match series leveled.
Batting first, Zimbabwe rattled up 333 for 5 in the stipulated 50 overs — thanks to Taylor’s ninth ODI hundred. He slammed 125, putting on 155 runs for the fourth wicket with Sikandar Raza.
As Taylor hit five boundaries and eight sixes in his 121-ball knock, Raza smashed 92 off 74 balls, Afghanistan Cricket Board spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News.
In reply, Afghanistan was bundled out for 179 in 30.1 overs.The Afghan batsmen were not allowed to settle by Cremer, who took four wickets, and Tendai Chatara, who grabbed three scalps.
Rahmat Shah, scoring 43 off 61 balls, and Dawlat Zadran, hitting a breezy unbeaten 47, offered some resistance. However, their knocks could not save the national side
Dawlat Zadran put on 64 for the final wicket with Mujeebur Rahman, hitting six towering sixes, but Zimbabwe cruised to an easy victory.
Afghanistan had won the opening game on Friday, with the third encounter penciled in for Tuesday at the same venue.
