KABUL (Pajhwok): Senate chairman Fazl Hadi Muslimyar on Friday said the Afghans wanted a dignified peace but some countries were trying to destroy their unity.
The Meshrano Jirga in Kabul.
Congratulating all jihadi leaders, commanders and families of the martyred on celebrating the day, Muslimyar said the nation’s sacrifices, resistance and patriotism forced the invading forces to leave.
The Senate chairman also urged the government and the opposition political parties to forge unity and cooperation.
About opposition leaders’ meeting with Taliban representatives in Moscow, he said the Afghan government came into power with people’s votes and should not be disrespected.
He said the opposition parties’ refusal to talk with the elected government could plunge the country into a new turmoil.
He believed some countries were trying to do away with unity among the Afghans, but the Afghans had now awakened.
Muslimar said peace talks held without the involvement of the Afghanistan government were not acceptable to them. “After winning battle of wars from the British and Soviets, it is time to win the peace battle.”
