Gas, Russian gold, sugar, flour prices down in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of liquefied gas, sugar, flour and Russian gold have dipped while the rate of Arabian gold increased during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

Mohammad Akram, a liquefied gas seller in Taimani area of Kabul told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of a kilogram of the commodity was decreased from 65 Afghanis to 55 Afghanis.

However, fuel prices remain steady.

Abdul Hadi, a worker at Wazirabad Fuel Station in Kabul said a liter of petrol cost 52afs and the same quantity of diesel 49afs, the same rates of last week’s.

In food items, the prices of flour and sugar slightly decreased.

Mohammad Samim, a wholesaler in Kabul’s Mandavi Market, said that the price of 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani flour was decreased from 1,470afs to 1,460afs and the same quantity of Pakistani sugar from 2,040afs to 2,000afs.

However, he said that a tin of 16 liters of Khurshid ghee cost 1,080afs, 24kg of Pakistani rice 2,200afs, one-kg of Indonesian green tea for 300afs and the same amount of black African tea for 320afs, the same rates of last week’s.

Ahmad Mustafa, who owns a grocery store in Taimani area of Kabul, sold a 50-kg sack of Kazakhstani flour for 1,500afs, a 49-kg bag of sugar for 2,100afs, 24-kg of Pakistani rice 2,500afs a 16-litre tin of ghee for 1,150afs, one-kg of Indonesian green tea for 320afs and the same amount of black African tea for 360afs—higher than wholesale rates.

The price of Arabian gold increased while that of Russian decreased.

Haji Fawad Ahmad Salehzada, a jeweler in Timor Shahee area of Kabul, said that the price of one gram of Arabian gold increased from 2,850afs to 2,900afs while the same quantity of Russian variety decreased from 2,400afs to 2,200afs.

Haji Mir Hussian Sadaqat, a moneychanger at the Money Exchange Service in Sara-i-Shahzada, said one US dollar was accounted for 80.15afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 507afs against last week’s 80.10afs and 511afs.
