President renames Jabal Alsaraj Palace in Parwan

The palace, which was built under Amir Habibullah Khan rule in 1907, is also known as Saraj Al-Amsar and the palace served as residence of the king until the government of King Amanullah Khan. Amanullah Khan became king of Afghanistan in 1918.

Jabal Alsaraj Palace which is located in the center of Jabal Saraj district of Parwan was damaged during the last three decades of war and is currently under reconstruction.

Wahida Shahkar, Parwan governor’s spokeswoman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that President Ashraf Ghani arrived in Jabal Saraj district before noon today.

She said the president visited the palace after its 95 percent repairing process was completed and named it ‘National Jihad and Resistance Museums of Afghanistan People’

While visiting the palace, Ghani said the fortress representedthe great history of the Afghan people, particularly the people of Parwan province.

Shahkar quoted Ghani as saying that building irrigation dams in Parwan province was among next year’s plans.
