JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Interior and defence ministers, accompanied by NATO Gen. Scott Miller, have visited the Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Thursday.
Intelligence officer Ahmad Zia Siraj was also part of the team that discussed the security situation with a number of high-profile local figures on Wednesday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the 201st Selab Military Corps commander, governors of eastern provinces and security bosses appreciated Kabul’s efforts to defeating Daesh rebels in Nangarhar.
The spokesman said the visiting delegation assured the locals of preparations for winter clearing operations in the eastern zone.
He added the delegation later traveled to Achin district and assessed the security situation there. They also praised the security forces’ courage.
