KABUL and ensuring the security of the US and its allies.

Addressing reporters here, Sediqi said the government was committed to establishing peace in the country and it took several steps in this regard so that the ongoing peace process yield positive results.

He said the Afghan government would continue taking steps for peace and ending fighting, violence and ensuring durable ceasefire.

He said the uptick in violence by the Taliban was against the wishes of the people of Afghanistan, the Afghan government and international community as it faced peace in Afghanistan with uncertainty.

Referring to the forthcoming Geneva Conference on Afghanistan, he said the president made several efforts lasting months for convention of this conference.

The Afghan government was working on a framework to ensure the continuation of international community support and the world would declare its support to democracy, freedom and sustainable development to Afghanistan in the coming four years.

He said current democracy and achievements of the past 20 years in spheres of human rights, freedom of expression, women and children rights would provide basis for Afghanistan’s partnership for the coming four years with international community.

He stressed Afghanistan’s relations with the US and NATO were based on shared interest which was the establishment of peace in Afghanistan and ensuring the security of US and its allies.

About Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan’s upcoming visit to Kabul, Sediqi said bilateral relationship would key point of discussion between the two nations.

President Ghani’s meeting with the Pakistani Prime Minister will focus on Afghanistan as a roundabout of regional cooperation and opportunities that connect South Asia with Central Asia.
