KABUL (Pajhwok): A Sri Lankan firm has evinced interest in exporting Ceylon tea to Afghanistan.

The Value Group Plantations conveyed its interest to Afghan Ambassador to Sri Lanka M. Ashraf Haidari.

Gamini Jayawardene, director of the group, met Haidari to discuss tea exports to Afghanistan, a news site reported.

The Colombo Page reported the two sides also discussed the Value Group’s investment interests in renewal energy, tourism, transport and logistics, education and information technology.

Haidari presented to the director the Afghanistan-Sri Lanka Friendship Plaque, highlighting the key role the private sector could play in fostering deeper links between the two countries.

“The ambassador looks forward to facilitating this and other Sri Lankan firms’ investment visits to Afghanistan,” the Afghan embassy said.
