KABUL (Pajhwok): US Special Representative for Afghan Peace, Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad has reached Kabul for talks with Afghan leaders on peace process.
A government source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Khalilzad arrived in Kabul on Monday night.
The top US diplomat would meet President Ashraf Ghani and High Council of National Reconciliation (HCNR) Chairman Dr. Abdullah Abdullah to discuss recent progress in peace process and second round of Intra-Afghan talks.
The second round of talks are expected to resume in Qatar today (Tuesday) and the government peace negotiating team departed to Doha this morning.
Khalilzad visited Islamabad before traveling to Kabul, where he discussed Afghan peace process with Pakistan Chief of Army Staff and the country’s intelligence chief.
