KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): National Directorate of Security (NDS) forces arrested a 10-member militant group involved in attacks in the provincial capital and districts, an official said on Saturday.
Kandahar Governor RohullahKhanzada said the detained militants had carried out attacks in Kandahar City and districts, planted landmines and targeted security personnel, influential persons and tribal elders.
He said the detainees had confessed to their crimes and would be referred to judicial organs.
Khanzada said 32 landmines, three pistols and five motorcycles were also recovered from the detainees.
Lal Mohammad, one of the detainees, said that he hailed from Zabul province and lived in the Pashin locality of Balochistan, Pakistan.
He said Taliban commanders and imams in Pashin would make announcements that they had captured Kandahar province and people should return to their country and help them.
He said they were deceived and entered Panjwai district through Raig area, adding that they spent 27 days with Taliban Commander Asad who forced them to attack security check-posts.
The group was arrested at a time when militants have increased their attacks in some areas of Kandahar province.
