7 issues being discussed with Turkmenistan: Atmar

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A two-day meeting between Afghan and Turkmen officials began in western Herat province on Saturday.

The respective delegations are headed by Afghan Foreign Minister Hanif Atmar and his Turkmen counterpart RasitMeredow. The meeting began today and would also continue tomorrow.

Atmar in the beginning of the meeting said the delegations of the two countries would discuss TAPI, transmission of energy to Herat from Turkmenistan, Railway track, Herat’s marble export to Turkmenistan, Trade and Transit through Lapis Lazuli corridor, culture, peace and security issues in the two days meeting.

He stressed the above seven important matters would benefit economic prosperity and connection of the two countries of South and Central Asia.

While expressing home, Atmar said the Afghan delegation was participating in the meeting with commitment.

Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, RasitMeredow said the meeting was aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries and that such cooperation was a great responsibility.

Meredow stressed on cultural and historical commonalities between the two countries and said based on the commonalities the discussion over seven important economic matters would have positive results.
