KABUL (Pajhwok): A United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) delegation has talked with Taliban representatives about the security of UN offices across Afghanistan following an attack on the organization’s compound in western Herat province.

Two days back, a security guard of UNAMA was killed and two others wounded in western Herat province during a Taliban clash with Afghan security forces in the provincial capital.

The UN had condemned the incident and called it a war crime.

On the other hand, a Taliban spokesman, Dr. Naeem said that the group’s contact committee in-charge, Mullah Abdul Wasiq, met with UNAMA assistant representative.

He said that the two sides talked about the recent attack on UNAMA compound in Guzra district of Herat province.

The Taliban renewed their commitment to ensuring security of UN, other organizations and public facilities under their control, he said.

The attack on UNAMA compound in Herat was called a regrettable action by both sides and it was stressed that such incidents should not be politicized.

UNAMA said that it would share its offices’ map and information with the Taliban so action could be taken for their security.
