Most areas of Taloqan fall to Taliban: Sources

TALOQAN (Pajhwok): The Taliban have captured central jail of northern Takhar province and freed all prisoners, a local representative said on Sunday.

Provincial Council Secretary Azam Afzali told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban captured central jail before noon on Sunday and freed all prisoners.

Another well-placed security source said the Taliban captured majority areas of Taloqan.

“There is no accurate information about central jail. Right now all security forces retreated to the NDS office, Police HQ and GH. And other areas are under the Taliban control.”

Meanwhile, the Taliban Spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid claimed the Taliban capture most areas of Taloqan and few government buildings are remaining.
