KABUL (Pajhwok): Some women activists in capital Kabul protested by raising placards to demand their educational, political and economic rights as according to them women constitute half of the society.
A video circulating in social media shows around seven women clad in hijab gathered in the Zambaq Square at the entrance gate of Presidential Palace, protesting for their rights.
“We want our rights, there are women, we want social and political security, we want the right to work, the right to education and the right to political participation. No military can ignore women and suffocate them. All our achievements over the years and our fundamental rights should not be trampled on,” they said.
They said women comprised half of the society. “Don’t eradicate women, support them as they have the right to education and political partnership.”
Earlier, before the entry of Taliban to capital Kabul it was thought that the group would impose strong curbs and would not allow women to come out of their homes.
