11 Village Councils in 4 provinces owe 2.6 million afs to MoRRD

KABUL (Pajhwok): Eleven Village Councils in Ghazni, Takhar, Kabul and Parwan provinces are not prepared to return around 2.6 million afs to the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MoRRD) in wells digging project from the past one to three years.

According to the ministry these council provided 12.2 million afs for wells digging but the amount was not spent on these projects and a portion of that funds was still with these councils which they have to return to the government.

MoRRD provided a chart showing the amount that these council has to return.

The chart showed that Qazal Kala Council in the Rustaq district of Takhar province owed 84,740 afs, Paeen Sar Alodal Council in the Jaghori district of Ghazni province owed 87,300 afs, Qash Council in the Malistan district of Ghazni province owed 70,950 afs, Jalga Bahardur Kuna Deh Council in the Nahwar district of Ghazni province owed 629,398 afs, Gardana Council in the Ghazni’s Malistan district owed 163,835 afs, Niabig Council in Malistan district owed 61,808 afs, Khosh Khosh Council in Malistan owed 1,880,000 afs, Mullah Umar Council in Kabul’s Khak-e-Jabbar district woed 701,365 afs, Saidan Tangi Council in Chaharsiab district of Kabul province owned 525,770 afs, Dahni Qura Gard Council in the Syagard District of Parwan owed 224 afs and the Darazgard’s Council in the Shinwari district of Parwan province owed 446490 afs to the government.

Pajhwok shared the Kabul’s Khak-i-Jabbar and Chaharasiab districts Village Council’s issue with the Kabul’s Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department (RRDD) Head Awal Gul Ahamdzai who showed the copies of some letters in which these councils had been asked to returned the money they owed to the government.

But Parwan’s RRDD Head Mahfuzullah Fakor said councils that owed money to the government claimed they had spent the amount in the project.

He said this issued conveyed to the MoRRD and they will take the final decision.

Pajhwok tried to get view point of Takhar and Ghazni RRDD heads but they could not reach for contact.
