KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) announced on Thursday that private higher educational institutes would be reopened on September 6.

A decision on the reopening of state-run universities would be made in the next few days, said a statement from MoHE.

The ministry’s Students’ Department discussed the reopening of universities at a meeting on Wednesday, the statement added.

Students’ Department head Eng. Sayed Ismail Rouhani said all educational institutes were duty-bound to respect Islamic values and the ministry was trying to reopen all universities in the near future.

The coronavirus and recent political changes long disrupted the education process and an effective plan was needed to make up for the time lost, he said.

Rouhani explained all private higher educational institutes would reopen on September 6 and entry tests for autumn and spring semesters would also be announced soon.

A decision on the reopening of state-run universities would be made soon, the official concluded.
