SHARAN (Pajhwok): Taliban members have seized 17 trucks carrying ammunition and scrap metal en route to Pakistan in Argon district of southern Paktika province.
MualviFaroq, Argon district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the trucks were seized in the district on Saturday night.
These trucks were trafficking ammunition, precious soil, zinc and scrap metals to neighbouring Pakistan, he said, adding that two individuals were also arrested in connection with the seizure.
One of the detainees, Ahmad Shah, told Pajhwok that he loaded the scrap metal from Pul-i-Charkhi Prison and he wanted to transfer it to Pakistan.
“We did not know if there were military things placed at the bottom of the truck,” he said.
He said that tank doors, computer parts, zinc and some other materials were loaded in the truck.
On the other hand, Yasin, in charge of the port gate in Angoor Ada township, said that they also stopped dozens of other trucks which were smuggling scrap metals to Pakistan.
