KABUL (Pajhwok): A hub for humanitarian aid to Afghanistan will be established in Uzbekistan, says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tashkent.

Tomas Niklasson and Ismatulla Irgashev, EU and Uzbekistan’s special envoys for Afghanistan respectively, discussed the issue in Brussels on Monday.

Niklasson commended Uzbekistan’s efforts in evacuation of EU nationals from Afghanistan. He desired continued cooperation with Uzbekistan in bringing peace and stability to Afghanistan.

A statement from the ministry said the diplomats conferred on building a consolidated position of the international community on the new government and prevention of a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

Earlier, the United Nations said the main hub of the World Food Programme for assistance to Afghanistan would be based in Termez.
