MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The minister of vice and virtue says the new government, without bowing to internal and external pressures, will continue its efforts to enforce a strong Islamic system.

Sheikh Mohammad Khalild said made the remarks during a programme aimed to provide a safe learning environment for men and women in Mazar-i-Sharif.

He said the Afghans should be vigilant to thwart the conspiracies of foreigners and maintain unity among their ranks.

Khalild accused the United States of trying to destabilise Afghanistan by strengthening the form of Daesh (the Islamic State).

“You may remember when Jawzjan was conquered by the mujahidin; the US flew IS fighters in its helicopters to Kabul,” he recalled.

“The US is still trying to destabilise Afghanistan’s sacred soil by aiding Daesh militants,” the minister claimed.

Khalid said the Taliban government pardoned all criminals of the previous regime and no one should flee the country.

He cited ex-president Hamid Karzai, Dr. Abdullah and Abdul Hadi Muslimyar as examples of Taliban’s forgiveness. They were big criminals but remained safe and secure, he continued.

Khalid underlined the importance of educating men and women up to master’s and doctoral levels.

The government was working to create a safe learning environment for both men and women, the minister said.

Balkh Governor Maulvi Qudratullah Abu Hamza, in his speech, stressed the importance of Amr bil Maroof (propagating virtue) and said people wanted corruption-free institutions and services.
