Needless barriers be removed from roads: Cabinet

KABUL (Pajhwok): The cabinet on Tuesday appointed a team to review vehicles seized in criminal cases and instructed Kabul Municipality to find a solution to clear the city from unnecessary barriers.

Office of the Administrative Affairs in a tweet today said that the cabinet held its 12th meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund on Monday.

The source said that the meeting discussed activities and structure of the National Procurement Commission, as well as the Independent Administrative Reform and Civil Service Commission (IARCSC) as well as the investigation into the fate of illegally trafficked goods and vehicles seized in criminal cases.

“In order to facilitate citizens and clear the roads, it was decided to remove unnecessary barriers from the public roads,” the source said.

It said concrete walls which were still needed in some places should be relocated and roads should be opened for public traffic.

Kabul Municipality was instructed to take steps to solve traffic problems caused by peddlers and taxi drivers on the city’s main roads.

The Office of Administrative Affairs said that the meeting also discussed issues related to the regulation of land transport services, the problem of unregistered vehicles, performance of police headquarters in provinces and some other issues.
