Afghan women’s rights, girls education still an issue to be addressed: OIC

KABUL (Pajhwok) : The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has said that Women’s right and girls education still an issue to be addressed as promised by de facto authorities in Kabul.

OIC SG Special Envoy for Afghanistan Amb. Tarig Bakhiet was speaking before the OIC48CFM in Islamabad Pakistan.

Women’s right and girls education still an issue to be addressed as promised by de facto authorities in Kabul. The OIC tweeted on Wednesday. He said

OIC to maintain constructive engagement with de facto government in Kabul to work together for a bright future for Afghan people. Amd Tariq said. 

The Special Envoy for Afghanistan Amb. Tarig Bakhiet als met with Khaled Khiari, UN ASG for the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific on the sidelines of OIC48CFM in Islamabad.

They discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan in a bid to forge a closer partnership to assist the Afghan people.

Tarig Bakhiet also held constructive talks with Head of de facto Afghan delegation to the OIC FM meeting, Akbar Azeemi, DG 1st Political Division at the Afghan ministry of foreign affairs.

Meanwhile The OIC Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Amb. Tarig Ali Bakheet and  Uzra Zeya, US Undersecretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights held a consultation meeting on the sidelines of the OIC 48th Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting organized in Islamabad, Pakistan, over 22-23 March 2022.

The two sides exchanged views on ways and means to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between OIC and the US as well as the latest developments unfolding in Afghanistan.

They also stressed the need to enhance their efforts to address the daunting humanitarian and development challenges facing Afghanistan. JHK
