KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Wednesday said that Daesh or Islamic State (IS) militants have been crushed by 98 percent and the concerns of neighboring in this regard were baseless.

The MoI on its Twitter handle said that the phenomenon of Daesh in Afghanistan has 98 percent crumpled and the group was now not a threat to security.

“Security forces of the Islamic Emirate are still trying to destroy their last remaining figures and foil their evil designs,” the source said.

Without naming any country, the ministry said that the concerns of neighboring countries regarding presence of the Daesh rebels in Afghanistan were unfounded.

However, Iranian foreign ministry spokesman, SaeedKhatibzada said on Tuesday that Afghanistan’s caretaker government had failed to ensure security in Afghanistan and that Iran would continue to fight “terrorist groups and ISIS.”

He said that the caretaker government of Afghanistan has not been able to provide security in some parts of the country.

This comes as a bomb blast near a school and educational center in the west of Kabul killed or injured 26 people with most of the victims from Shia people.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
