Eid-ul-Fitr prayer offered peacefully country-wide

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate Supreme Leader Shaikh Habatullah Akhunzada on Sunday morning led the largest Eid-ul-Fitr prayer congregation in Kandahar City people in other parts of the country also offered their prayers in a peaceful environment.

Afghanistan Apex Court Committee on Saturday night announced that Shawal moon was sighted in different provinces hence declaring Sunday as the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr.

In a statement, the Apex Court Committee wrote that 27 people have sighted the moon in Farah, Ghazni, Kandahar and Ghor provinces and submitted their claims to the relevant committee with evidence.

The largest Eid congregation was held in Kandahar Eidgah Mosque. Islamic Emirate Supreme Leader Shaikh Habatulah led the prayer.

Before Eid prayer, Shaikh Habatullah addressed hundred of thousands of people who reached Eid Gah to offer prayer.

Acting Government Head Mullah Mohammad Hassan offered prayer at Presidential Palace and said this Eid is being celebrated in peace and nationwide stability.

Shawal moon was not sighted in Saudi Arabia last night thus the kingdom will celebrate the religious festival on Monday.

Some other Islamic countries like Oman, Morocco, Nigeria and Singapore are celebrating Eid today (Sunday)
