ATLANTA (Pajhwok): USAID and UN Humanitarian Coordinator discussed the international community’s ongoing efforts to provide life-saving humanitarian to the Afghan people.
USAID Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman met with Ramiz Alakbarov, the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator (RC/HC) for Afghanistan on Friday. USAID said in a press release.
They discussed the international community’s ongoing efforts to provide life-saving humanitarian to the Afghan people and the UN’s efforts to ensure the most vulnerable people are being reached. It said.
Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman and RC/HC Alakbarov discussed current humanitarian access challenges in Afghanistan.
Deputy Administrator Coleman expressed concern about reports of increasing Taliban inference and attempts to control the delivery of humanitarian assistance.
They also discussed options for medium-term support, beyond humanitarian aid, to address the ongoing humanitarian and economic catastrophe. The statement added.
