KABUL (Pajhwok): Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund on Saturday said the Islamic Emirate was committed to human rights in the framework of Islamic values ​​and once again called on the opposition to shun violence and let people live a comfortable life.

Addressing Eidul Adha congregation at the Presidential Palace’s mosque, Akhund said extending helping hand to each other improves lives.

The Presidential Palace wrote on its twitter account the congregation was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Maulvi Abdul Salam Hanafi, cabinet members and a number of other civilian and military officials.

The prime minister said economic sanctions remained imposed on Afghanistan and as a result the Afghans faced serious problems and challenges.

He also called on the opponents to renounce opposition and benefit from the general amnesty.

“Now Islam and Sharia rule, so let the people live in peace and tranquility in the shadow of the Islamic atmosphere,” he told the audience.

Referring to those who incite discord and hatred in the media, the PM said something that leads to unrest, discord and hatred must be avoided.

He rejected the claims that the Islamic Emirate did not respect human rights and said their government was committed to upholding human rights in the light of Islamic values.

He also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims of the recent earthquake and flood victims in the country.
