KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Finance says it collected about six billion afghanis customs revenue from the import of coal in the past 11 months.
The ministry says 13,000 to 15,000 tons of coal is exported from Afghanistan to Pakistan every day.
The caretaker government raised the price of one ton of coal from 90 dollars to 200 dollars about 22 days ago.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Finance, Ahmadwali Haqmal, told Pajhwok that the ministry had collected around six billion afghanis in customs revenue from the export of coal in the last 11 months.
He said each ton of coal was charged 60 dollars customs duty whether it was exported by domestic traders or foreign, but so far only Afghan traders had exported the coal.
Yesterday a delegation headed by the Minister of Commerce of Pakistan arrived in Kabul to discuss coal, trade, transit issues and port services with Afghan officials.
