KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan and Pakistan have agreed on keeping Torkham and Spin Boldak crossings open round the clock, officials say.

At talks in Kabul, senior officials from the two countries decided to allow cargo trucks to travel between Afghanistan and Pakistan without any delay with effect from August.

Bakhtar News Agency quoted the government spokesman as saying Pakistan would not impose any timeline for the entry of transit goods into Afghanistan from its territory.

Zabihullah Mujahid said Pakistan remained committed to the 2010 transit trade agreement until the signing of a new pact.

Minister of Commerce and Industry Nooruddin Azizi and Pakistan Commerce Secretary Saleh Ahmad Faruqui led theor respective delegations at three days of meetings here.

Mujahid claimed Pakistan had promised that no restrictions would be placed on the export of Afghan goods to India through the Wagah border.

On the issue of regional connectivity, the two sides called for a tripartite meeting involving Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

Private sector representatives from both countries will continue to meet to work out a clear mechanism for barter trade between the neighbours.
